Thanks to reading everyone's spine-chingling pop culture moments at the Roundtable, I finally found the title of my favourite Stevie Wonder song - the chorus has been chasing around in my head on and off for ages. I am going to go out and buy the cd. I just love the lyrics:
Just for two, though you never knew you were my reason
Ive gone much too far for you now to say
That Ive got to throw my castle away
Over dreams, I have picked out a perfect come true
Though you never knew it was of you Ive been dreaming
The sandman has come from too far away
For you to say come back some other day
And though you dont believe that they do
They do come true
For did my dreams
Come true when I looked at you
And maybe too, if you would believe
You too might be
Overjoyed, over loved, over me
Over hearts, I have painfully turned every stone
Just to find, I had found what Ive searched to discover
Ive come much too far for me now to find
The love that Ive sought can never be mine
And though you dont believe that they do
They do come true
For did my dreams
Come true when I looked at you
And maybe too, if you would believe
You too might be
Overjoyed, over loved, over me
And though the odds say improbable
What do they know
For in romance
All true love needs is a chance
And maybe with a chance you will find
You too like i
Overjoyed, over loved, over you, over you

Bought my first Carpenters CD today! She has such a fantastic voice, so rich and such amazing legato and breath control! They had real singers back then. I was just a kid in the 70s but remember quite a few of the songs, and they are all so positive and 'feel good'. What is your favourite Carpenter's song?

help with rose songs
Wednesday, June 21, 2006
I am doing a presentation on roses in a few weeks and have been all over the web trying to find a few classical songs or early musical theatre/parlour songs about roses. I am not too fond of 'The Last Rose of Summer', I like the few Quilter songs I have found but am not sure if they fit. I know a couple of Schumann songs (Meine Rose), I wish I could find more in English, or an American folk song or musical song! Any ideas?

Great News! I just got the role of Julie Jordan in Carousel. My first American musical - funny, I've always done G&S or opera (or Brecht/Weil). Have a look at the West Wickham Operatic Society website. Very exciting...
